I was thinking the other day about one of the most important things to take with you when traveling abroad. Your Library card!

When we are in LA, I spend a lot of time at the Lloyd Taber-Marina del Rey Library. It is great – a nice bike ride to the library, fantastic views, and a nice selection of books. The librarian told me to check out the library website because there were many additional resources, such as downloadable e-books, audiobooks, and magazines.

And this is the reason why you should bring your library card with you. One iPad is much easier to bring along with you than a bunch of books. Also, they have language courses available, so if you are in a new country and need some help, you can learn some new phrases or expand your vocabulary.

But wait there is more… So, as a remote worker or digital nomad you need to learn new skills all the time. Well, you get a free subscription to lynda.com online as well. So, if you need to learn about the unreal engine or you are interested in learning how to code, you have a vast treasure trove of knowledge at your fingertips.

There is also one of my favorite features, free online movies to stream. You can stream ten movies a month. And the best part for any cinephile out there is that they feature The Criterion Collection movies in the catalog.

There are many other goodies on the library website to explore as well, but these are my favorites. I hope this helps some of you folks already out there on the road and future travelers.
